Home decor when you have pets.

Decorating your home when you live with pets.

Home decor when you live with pets…how to decorate around their stuff?

We are dog lovers, I imagine this will be helpful if you are a cat lover as well.

We love our pets and they are part of our family. Pets add so much joy and unconditional love to our lives and we are better people because of them.

Like any other member of the family they come with stuff, and not all of that stuff is the prettiest, but it is necessary, I will show you how to decorate when you live with pets.

home decor when living with pets.
This is our 4 year old Maltese/ Chihuahua mix

The Idea here is that they need stuff…bowls, beds, toys, treats, leashes, ect. Why not make it blend in to your home so it looks like part of the decor rather than having it be an eye sore.

Here is a list of things to gather up. Keep in mind coordinating your home decor and functionality

  • a rug for their bowls
  • canisters for treats
  • a basket or bucket for toys
  • a bed that matches your decor
  • matching bowls

dog bowls and rug to show examples of home decor when you have pets.
We put a rug down first to not only anchor the space but to catch any spills.
canister to hide dog treats, home decorating when you live with pets.
This cute canister houses treats, so its handy to dispense, but its also a cute way to store them.
examples of home decorating whn you have pets. kennel, toy storage and treat storage.
Here we have the puppy’s kennel, because he isn’t trusted to be left to his own devices . See how the bed matches the surroundings? I can’t wait until we can get rid of the kennel but that won’t be any time soon, see the picture below. A cute little bucket to house toys and of course another treat canister. When you see the whole room together these things just kind of blend in.

Naughty puppy!!!!!!! the reality of having a puppy…. not sure if I can repair this, for the time being, I think I will duck tape it so it wont fray any more and hide it under the sofa until I can get a new rug ordered.

But…OH! look at that sweet face…hard to be mad for to long.

Decorating when you live with pets doesn’t have to be expensive.

Most of the stuff shown has come from Marshall’s and World Market. This isn’t my exact rug but it’s close. https://www.worldmarket.com/product/light-gray-emilie-flatweave-sweater-wool-area-rug.do?sortby=ourPicksAscend&from=fn

Afternoon Project

This would be a fun little project to knock out in an afternoon. Just making these small changes will make your pets stuff blend in to the background instead of standing out and that is really what we want.

XOXOX
